Register your birth (Registration Services)
The Registration Service delivers the statutory function of registering births.
The service is delivered from Cheltenham, which is the head office and the Register office for Gloucestershire. There are other full time offices in Gloucester (Shire Hall and Archives), Cinderford and Stroud, and part time offices in Cirencester library, Moreton library and Tewkesbury district council offices.
Last year we registered around 6000 births.
Support your family in those early crazy weeks, months and years (Children Centres)
There are 39 children’s centres across Gloucestershire (ten in Gloucester, five in the Forest of Dean, seven in Stroud, four in the Cotswolds, seven in Cheltenham and six in Tewkesbury).
The annual budget for children’s centres is £8.23 million of which £5.5million is from central GCC budget. All Gloucestershire children’s centres deliver services including:
- Links to integrated early education and childcare to support parents and carers
- Health services for young children and their parents
- Information and advice about children’s services , parenting support and a range of family support services
- Training and advice to help parents gain skills and find work
During 2012/ 2013 14,243 0-4 year olds , 7098 5-18 year olds and 29,541 parents or carers received services through children’s centres
